Interra SmarTarget LED functions are described below (as of Firmware Version 0.4). Flash refers to a rapid transition from “On” to “Off” or vice versa, whereas Glow refers to a slow transition or steady state “On”.

Charging

Recording LED - Off

GNSS Signal LED - Off

Charging LED – On/Off

If the Charging LED is illuminated, then the battery is currently charging. When charging has completed the LED will turn off

PC Communications

Recording LED - On

GNSS Signal LED - Off

Charging LED – On/Off

Unit is communicating with PC. No data logging is occurring. The Charging LED may be illuminated if battery is charging

Start-Up

Recording LED - Flash

GNSS Signal LED - Flash

Charging LED - Off

Unit is performing initialization routines. Recording and GNSS Signal LED will flash in an alternating pattern until complete

Searching

Recording LED - Off

GNSS Signal LED - Glow

Charging LED - Off

Unit is searching for GNSS signals. GNSS Signal LED will slowly glow until a position solution is found, then it will turn on at full brightness

Logging

Recording LED - Flash

GNSS Signal LED - On

Charging LED - Off

Unit is logging data. GNSS Signal LED will remain On, while the Recording LED will flash at 1 Hz

Battery Low

Recording LED - Glow

GNSS Signal LED - Glow

Charging LED - Off

Unit has detected a low battery and has ceased logging. Recording and GNSS Signal LED will slowly glow until battery has been charged

Fault Detected

Recording LED - Flash

GNSS Signal LED - Flash

Charging LED - Off

Unit has detected a fault. Recording LED and GNSS Signal LED will flash quickly.

Course of Action: 

  • Power cycle the unit
  • Turn off, and allow battery to fully charge before retrying
  • Send unit back to factory for repairs



The user should be aware of what is known as quiescent current – residual battery drain while resting. This condition is commonplace in rechargeable battery systems.  It is normal to see a battery drop from fully charged while resting.  Don’t worry, it could take 3 years to drain the battery!
